When presenting a book or brochure to a potential client, you need it to really impress. Cheap, sloppily printed literature is sure to put off a prospect and give a poor impression of your product. You want your print to elevate your brand’s elegance and sophistication, and so do we. With that in mind, we’re going to explain a little bit more about another one of the bespoke printing services that we’re happy offer – the technique of ‘case making’.
Also known as ‘casebinding’, case making is the perfect way to encapsulate books and brochures or other printed material in a manner that’s bound to give an amazing first impression. But what exactly does it mean?
Simply put, case making is the process of wrapping a piece of printed material in a hard cardboard cover. This cover then acts as a sheath or box in which the material is held.
To show you what we mean, and how this method can be extremely effective as a presentation method for your high-quality brochures and much more, let’s first look at three example of case making in action.
A ‘slipcase’ is basically a box to hold a set of brochures or other printed material, which keeps them together and protects them while leaving the spine visible. Using these hardback cases adds an extra touch of importance to the documents within while allowing you to add your own, highly visible design and branding.
These tasteful slipcases can then be enclosed in an elegant briefcase-style box for ease of transport. The finished result resembles a bespoke, branded briefcase—specially made for your beautifully printed sales brochures.
Another common way of displaying your luxury items is to print a hardcover book. When displaying a large amount of pages of information, these are invaluable. Not only will your hardcover keep the pages protected, but it makes the information much more easily accessible to the potential customer.
Settlement boxes are becoming more and more popular in the real estate industry, and they really are a lovely touch at the closure of a property sale. They can be presented as functional ‘handover boxes’ or as mini gift-hampers, to make sure that a client really feels like they’re being looked after.
A typical handover box would usually include things like sets of keys for the new property, garage door remotes and some final pieces of documentation. However, giving your valued client a box of personalised gifts is now a common practice, and is a surefire way to be remembered. Whichever option you choose, we’ll produce high-quality bespoke boxes with your branding and design beautifully displayed in any way that you’d like.

To make our hardcovers we usually use a 2500um greyboard. This recycled cardboard, of 2.5mm thickness, is used as a base substrate for your bespoke design. When it comes to how the end result looks, the possibilities are endless.
The base board can be wrapped in a variety of different finishes, such as fabric, paper, or even leather. We can also combine some of our other techniques, such as embossing and debossing, or hot foiling to add extra texture and luxury to your document cases.
